Bill Wood, Land and Legal Associate
Bill is an oil and gas attorney who specializes in international negotiations, and is broadly experienced in domestic E&P law, contracts, and regulations. His major strengths are in negotiating production sharing agreements with foreign governments and reviewing other contracts and agreements in the international environment. Bill was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1969 and began a private practice in Civil Litigation.
In 1973, he joined Shell Oil Company where he advised, negotiated, and prepared legal contracts for their domestic E&P organization. He later focused on legal issues relating to government relations including negotiations in the areas of economic sanctions, anti-bribery laws, environmental requirements, treaty protections, and American state and federal legislative matters.
Bill represented Shell before the Federal Power Commission, Office of Wage and Price Controls, and the DOE. From 1982 until his retirement in 1999, Bill was Principal of Shell Oil International (Pecten) E&P legal advisor providing assistance to units of Shell throughout the world. He was responsible for extensive contract negotiations and preparations of production sharing agreements, concessions, service contracts, partnership agreements, as well as providing advice to their international field offices in the Middle East, Africa, Far East, North and South America, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and New Zealand.
